I keep telling these guys to come and play in Belfast.

Fuck sake, I'd even let them use all of our gear, kip at my house, sort out a venue, but no. no no no.

Actually I might not have mentioned the kip at my house bit to them. They would probably find that a bit weird.

I'm pretty sure they'd play anywhere they could get a reasonable crowd and not lose a shedload of money in the process... unfortunately that does rather mean a stock answer at the minute for anywhere that isn't UK mainland (and more often than not, relatively close to Yorkshire). Hopefully this is something that'll change over time! That's what all this "share this video with everyone" lark is all about...

To be fair they've played a lot of little gigs up and down the place but if you think about the costs of getting 4 people plus van full of gear across to Ireland and back then even if you put them up for free* and fed them** they'd still be on a loser. If you could guarantee a good turn out so that it was worth the trip then I'm sure they'd be there in a shot. So the best bet is to spread the word locally. Failing that, hop over here and see 'em.

*assuming you can provide the siberian goose down pillows Wayne likes so much
** and the macrobiotic fruit only rider***, with entres served by trained albino tigers with trays on their backs.
*** and wasabi seabrooks crisps.

I was thinking more jump on a plane at about £X each (not that pricey actually, I do it often) and use all our gear, including guitars. I have some nice ones. And noone is gonna call my Blackstar amp low rent.

Noone.

A van on ferry would be very expensive.

And actually I DO have goose pillows. I can't abide that hollowfibre crap.

Guaranteeing a turn out tho... that's the problem. The Belfast scene is shite.

Noone.

No one's dissing your amp mate, I wouldn't mind one of them myself but as a guitar player you probably feel more at home with your own gear because you know how it sounds.
Regardless it doesn't matter what amp you've got if no one turns out to hear it.

Maybe you could get them an acoustic support slot with a local band guaranteed to bring in a large crowd? If that goes well and they pick up a following it would pave the way for them coming back again maybe.

I think I'm being taken a little too seriously here!

I agree with everything you say.
