Manics at the O2.

Postby GarethMSP » 30th Aug 11, 15:14

Manics just announced special London O2 arena concert playing all 38 singles for their latest greatest hits package before going AWOL for a few years. Fab I thought. Until I saw the date. 17th December. Someones birthday....

Seeing as I won't be at Ginger's Birthday Bash, looks like I might just travel down for this. I love the Manics.

Just got tickets for this... it will be epic (if James' voice holds out; he's had a few issues the last year of two I believe). They could play half this setlist and it would still be great. Wonder who the special guests will be. I'm guessing some of the singers who have appeared on the singles (Nina Pearson, Traci Lords?!!? :eeek: )

Presale for anyone interested;

Got tickets this morning. Hoping James will be alright as it is only one gig rather than a whole tour.

In terms of guests.... IAN MCCULLOCH!

Will they be doing the set in the same order as the singles collection? If so, I can't help thinking the set may not be paced too well.

Nope, they know better than that. They're going to mix it up so that everyone doesn't piss off to the bar or leave at halftime (yes, they are having a half-time. I assume they won't be swapping ends though!).

Absolutely incredible! IN. CRED. IBLE. :D

I cried a few times, and got a bit giddy during the confetti snow storm at the end. I could have married every single person in the arena that night.

Come down of all come downs is what Nicky said.

Not splitting, taking a couple of years off. I was gutted when this was announced and it turned out to be the date of a gig that many of us were already at...

Awesome show. Revol and There By the Grace of God were the absolute highlights for me. Band seemed surprised that they made it through 38 songs, James was on fine form, both voice-wise and in terms of guitar playing. Last time I saw them was the 1st gig back after a couple of shows cancelled due to James losing his voice, and the contrast was huge. Loved every second.

Yes, no split, just a 2 year break apparently.

They played immensely. JDB's voice sounded stronger than ever, despite having issues with it in recent years. It was perfect for the arena as it really filled it. They also had special guests Nina Persson (The Cardigans) and Gruff Rhys (Superfurries).

It must have been exhausting playing for 3 hours, especially Sean. Nicky pulled his shoulder jumping about to Revol, but I think the audience appreciated it.

benwalton, you're on the FD forum as well aren't you? I've been reading the comments on there, most seem to have really enjoyed it, which is great :)

Yes I am, who are you on there? It was an awesome gig. Usually the FD lot will find ANYTHING to moan about, so it must've been good!
